After breaking her leg, a mother expected her husband, Harold, to help with their daughters, but he repeatedly said he could not be late for work. She had to depend on her mother, a neighbor, and a car service while managing a cast and crutches. Then she unexpectedly saw Harold picking up his young coworker, Adele, and realized his explanation about being unable to help with the girls did not seem to add up.

Harold claimed Adele’s car was being repaired and insisted that giving her a ride was simply convenient. But their daughter Sasha’s school project, titled “People Who Help My Family,” revealed how differently the situation looked at home. She described all the things her mother did for the family, while noting that Harold took “Miss Adele” to work because her car was broken.

The project eventually reached Adele, who was surprised to learn that Harold had not been taking the girls to school before picking her up, as he had apparently suggested. Adele also told the mother that Harold had portrayed his marriage differently at work, claiming that his wife preferred handling everything herself. When confronted, Harold admitted that he enjoyed feeling appreciated by Adele. His wife reminded him that caring for his children was a responsibility, not a favor, and after experiencing the full workload himself, Harold began taking a more active role in the family.
