After his girlfriend stayed over for the weekend, a man discovered a strange amber-colored glass stick among the blankets. Smooth, narrow, and rounded at both ends, it looked unfamiliar enough that he felt too embarrassed to ask his girlfriend what it was. His imagination quickly came up with several possibilities, from a beauty item to something medical.

Curious, he searched for similar vintage glass objects and eventually discovered the surprisingly simple answer: it was a glass drink stirrer, also known as a swizzle or stir stick. Vintage versions were often made from colored glass and designed with rounded ends, making them practical for stirring cocktails and other drinks served in tall glasses.

The unusual object suddenly made perfect sense. Its long shape was ideal for reaching into a glass, while the smooth ends made it comfortable to use. What initially seemed like a mysterious personal item turned out to be nothing more than a piece of vintage-style barware, saving him from an awkward question and providing a much simpler explanation.
